My Story.

Canvas is life..

With over 30 years of proven success, Al Seely, ASID has spent his professional life creating and implementing high-end custom design for residential and business customers. This seasoned interior designer has perfected the ability to readily translate his client’s needs and lifestyles into effective and functional projects ensuring that all milestones, deadlines, and budget requirements are met.

As a NCIDQ certified interior designer, Al interfaces with vendors, showrooms and artisans to maintain a complete and current understanding of design expertise when considering space planning, color, and design schemes.

During his career he has designed and supervised installations for residential projects with locations all across the country, advising with new construction design as well as renovations. Al prides himself in his eye for color, the art of visualizing spatial dimensions, and, most importantly, the talent to individualize the client’s style, providing a beautiful and functional design that incorporates their tastes as well as his. His clients are universally pleased with the results.

After graduating from Ringling College of Art and Design, Al has maintained his design expertise by staying active in professional organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia chapter of ASID (acting as President for one of those years) and held a position on the NCIDQ examination committee. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Albany Museum of Art.

Al has continued his love of art and artistic beauty throughout his professional career. He has acquired an extensive collection of contemporary art, both sculptures and canvases. While managing his design offices in Norfolk, Virginia, he also supported a modern art gallery, with items from various artists from the eastern United States, and rotating exhibits. Recently, Al has re-entered the art field by reviving his skills of painting. His focus is multimedia, multilayered landscapes and abstracts.

Taking his inspiration from his life experiences, Al recently has been diagnosed with a progressive form of Multiple Sclerosis. He likes to incorporate this new aspect of his life into his art while also inspiring others with similar diagnoses. Sharing his thoughts through visual and written expressions is now a new driving force in his life.
